Waterfront Lifestyle
Waterfront is soothing. Its waves, winding currents and reflective stillness are mesmerizing.
At waterfront’s edge, magic surrounds you. Ducks, swans and herons feed nearby. A heron’s stick legs step high in slow motion, while its long neck freezes in midair to spot fingerlings. Among lily pads, a female mallard duck guides her ducklings into hiding from a bald eagle soaring overhead.
The eagle dives and rises from the water, a salmon secure in its talons. Its great wings flap towards its nest, where baby eagles eagerly wait with open mouths.
A sleepy baby seal drifts on his back. His little nose rides just out of the water, flippers down by his side.
Down the beach, a female sea lion, weighing about 200 pounds, hauls her weight carefully onto a dock to warm in the sun. Kayakers paddle softly for a closer look, keeping a safe distance.
Nearby an anchored pot teases crab to a tasty treat. A motorboat stops briefly to haul in the catch for dinner. Tomorrow’s low tide will yield oysters to be cooked around a cozy beach fire. The throb of a tub boat is heard in a distance.
Sailboats silently steal through the waters, their colorful spinnakers announcing their loyalties. They sail to safe harbors before storm clouds. Seagulls play in the wind’s currents, flying high and then low to the water. They hook a ride behind a ferryboat, letting the boat clear the windy path before them. Thunder rolls. The air is salty tasting. The ducks, swans, herons, eagle, seal and sea lion have taken refuge.
People take refuge in their waterfront homes, light their fireplaces and watch the storm move across their picture windows, each pane revealing swirling cloud formations and crashing waters upon the shore. The storm will pass on. Yet, the water is vast and never-ending, connecting the world.
Waterfront lifestyle is magical, soothing and mesmerizing.
